Overview

On June 3rd, 2006, the The Northern Virginia GI Joe Club (http://members.aol.com/bdcutler) held the Battle of Purcelville. There were heavy casualties on both sides (mostly a large plastic tank!  :-)

The hotly contested property was a large area near Lovettsville, VA that had a small creek running through it.  After the Combat Engineer battalion of the NoVA Joe club constructed a bridge over the raging creek (ok, ok .. there was really only a trickle of water through it. But it COULD have been raging.  Really!) on Friday, the land was ready for both sides to deploy on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, the attacking German forces came in on the town of British and American occupiers from two sides - the hills to the North, and the river to the South-West.  The battle was fierce but at the end of the day, there was a stalemate - the British and American forces still held the town and the German's still threatened the Allies tenuous hold on the town.  

The battle started out with the Allies rushing their forces to either end of the town.  Crucial in their planning is protecting the manor house with its supply depot.
